Description
The increasing personalisation of online study experiences offers many opportunities for students, but also has the potential to leave individual learners isolated from their peers. This isolation may have a detrimental effect on the overall learning experience, as well as student wellbeing. This workshop explored the challenges that exist in building a supportive learning community on online programmes, in particular those where students are displaced, both in terms of location and time zone. I shared possible mitigations, drawing on my own experiences in designing online programmes at St Andrews.
