THis Keynote lecture tested exisiting orthodoxies surrounding the early modern decline of the Ports of Fife. It did so using a vast array of sources from numerous European archives to show that periods of warcontributed well to the economy of the ports - surprisingly even during the Cromwellian Usurpation.
