Experiencing Spiritual Evolution Through the Descent of Grace

Activity: Talk or presentation typesPresentation

Description

Most of us are familiar with the baptism of Jesus by John in the river Jordan ― when the sky opened and the Spirit descended on him. This notion of descent, from a mystical-experiential point of view, has remained relevant ever since. In Christian mysticism there is a record of such descending experiences ― a pressure from above carrying Light and transformative power into the human being. More recently, both Ramana Maharshi (arguably the most influential icon of contemporary non-duality) and Aurobindo (the modern precursor of spiritual evolution) testified about experiences of spiritual descent, paramount to their respective realizations.

After a ten-year period of direct experience regarding the phenomenon of spiritual descent, I will give a framework for its experiential and theoretical understanding (within the Holon’s Theory) using specific meditation practices and exercises which have been distilled through a process of evolutionary synthesis of various spiritual traditions.
