Description
This presentation outlines innovative approaches to engaging advanced EFL learners through location-based educational games, aligning with NATESOL's 40th-anniversary theme of Classroom Research and Practice in English Language Provision. Three projects are detailed, each using mobile technology to deliver language tasks within a game framework: "Alien Anthropologists," "Mission not really Impossible," and "The P-Team." Evaluation results show these games effectively motivate and challenge learners, with positive feedback emphasizing their novelty and engagement. Despite challenges in incorporating location-based digital pedagogies, their transformative potential is evident. The presentation offers EFL teachers practical insights into applying three digital tools and integrating similar games for location-based learning. It contributes to the discourse on digital pedagogies, showcasing ways to integrate mobile technologies and location-based activities into language courses, crucial for meeting learners' diverse needs in an increasingly digital landscape. EFL teachers will gain insights into practical applications of digital tools and incorporating similar games for location-based learning in their context.
