Description

Evolution 2015 is the joint annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE), the Society of Systematic Biologists (SSB), and the American Society of Naturalists (ASN). The meeting this year will be held on June 26-30 at the Casa Grande Resort in Guarujá, Brazil. Evolution 2015 in Brazil will be a great opportunity for the international scientific community of Evolutionary Biologists to interact with Brazilians to foster scientific cooperation programs and discuss their research.

This meeting is the premier annual opportunity for sharing scientific research related to evolution. Symposia presentations, concurrent contributed papers, and poster sessions will be presented by the 1,500 expected participants.

Iconic Brazilian ecosystems as case studies for teaching evolution Organisers: Thomas R Meagher (University of St Andrews), Eimear Nic Lughadha (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew), Louise Mead (Michigan State University) Brazil is home to a diverse array of iconic ecosystems, from the tropical rainforests of Amazonia and Mata Atlantica to the savannahs of the Cerrado and the seasonally dry tropical forests of the Caatinga. Research in these rich ecologically and biologically diverse regions provides many opportunities for evolution-based case studies. This symposium will showcase teachable examples of evolutionary processes taking place in these iconic ecosystems.
