Description
First we discuss the ways in which digital heritage can be used as a generative tool which has the potential to democratise cultural production and argues for it going beyond the spectacle. They then introduce our collaborative research project Connected Culture and Natural Heritage in the Northern Environment (CINE), and discuss the process of producing three immersive virtual reconstructions of significant archaeological sites ( Iron Age Roundhouse 500BC - 500AD: Kildonan, Sutherland; Helmsdale Fishing Village 1890: Kildonan, Sutherland and Clearances Longhouse 1813: Caen, Kildonan, Sutherland ) to tell the history of our parish within the intersecting frames of climate change and colonialism. They then discuss the impact of technology on engagement, participation and the curatorial field.Period | 17 Oct 2020 |
