Description

Cell Block Science is a ground-breaking public engagement programme led by researchers at the University of St Andrews. The programme aims to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in prison learning centres.
This session discussed different types of viruses (good and bad) and the importance of vaccination. Participants engaged in a real-life virology experiment (plaque assay) that highlighted the differences between antibiotics and antiviral medicines and how the overuse of antibiotics can lead to antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
