This was a public lecture by Professor Geoffrey Parker (The Ohio State University), Carnegie Centenary Professor visiting St Andrews in April-July 2016, at the University of Aberdeen. As his host and managing organiser for the entirety of his visit to Scotland as the visiting professor, I arranged for this public lecture to be held by the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy at Aberdeen.
