Description
The paper explores the textual representations of body image and their correlation to the literary constructions of human identity in Arabic versions of the Legend of Barlaam and Josaphat. Different Islamic and Christian versions of the Legend will be compared and discussed in the context of literary anthropology. The experience of body, especially its appearance, as well as feelings and emotions communicated in the texts will be analysed in relation to religious identities and ethical values implied and negotiated in different versions of the Legend.
