Description

Join us for our first Lunchtime Talk of 2023 at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow: 'Beyond survival – The role of love, care, and joy in imagining lives after violence'.

How would we understand violence and peace, survival and thriving differently if we centred joy, love, and care? What does it mean to take joy, love, and care seriously? What might a politics of joy, love, and care look like?

Roxani Krystalli is an academic, teacher and peacebuilding practitioner whose work explores how people reimagine and enact lives in the wake of loss. This question is woven through her work with individuals and communities worldwide affected by violence world-wide, her research and teaching, and her own experiences with grief, illness, and caregiving. Join us as Roxani considers how joy, love, and care can sit alongside, rather than instead of, struggle, in contexts including surviving violence, environmental politics, activism, and community-building.

Given Roxani's focus on feminist piece and conflict studies, we're delighted to invite her for one of several events run by the Goethe-Institut Glasgow and Alliance Francaise Glasgow marking International Woman's Day this year.
